Description
This painting is an homage to this largely lost art of hunting with the falcon and saluki, which was indigenous to the desert Bedouin tribes of the Arabian Peninsula.
In desert hunting practice, the falcon was released to locate the prey from the air and the Saluki once released would follow the falcon and hunt the prey on the ground.
The white Gyrfalcon is synonymous with royal status.
