I am a self taught artist, living in the sunny south east of Ireland. I paint in watercolour and oil, using only artist quality paints, paper and linen. My subject matter varies greatly, in that I love to paint colour and texture, so a palette knife is one of my favourite tools. Figures  feature prominently in my paintings, whether on a beach or in the landscape, a genre scene, a street or wherever I see an interesting subject.

My influences are great artists of the past, Winslow Homer, Andrew Wyeth, Singer Sargent, Monet, Kyffin Williams and others. I love the work of current artists, Trevor Chamberlain, Charles Reid, Kevin Macpherson, Arthur Maderson to, name but a few. Recently I have admired American artists Ann Gale and Joshua Meyer. My own style in watercolour is bold, loose and impressionistic., with the intention of keeping the painting fresh and loose. With oil painting I like to use impasto with pure colour.
