Description
The inspiration for painting the painting was the phenomenon of radioactivity. The artist referred to this issue by showing flowers. Their beauty symbolizes that radioactivity has been with us since the beginning of our planet. It contributed to the formation of celestial bodies and helped to create life on Earth. Few people know that we live in an environment filled with natural radionuclides.
Every second you read this text, you are bombarded with about half a million gamma quanta from the rocks, soil, and even the walls of the building you are in. To this must be added 150 quanta that come directly from space, as well as radiation that comes from ourselves, mainly from the decay of the potassium-40 isotope (about 4,000 decays per second). I’m not counting radioactive isotopes, mainly radon, inhaled with the air… Gamma radiation is so common that it’s almost a miracle to find a place where it’s not present.
