This is a loose impressionistic oil on canvas painting of fruit bowl and cactus plant on a table. The inspiration for this painting was sitting outside in warm relaxing sunshine having a cup of tea.This bowl of fruit was on a table near me and I was fascinated with the way the light hit the fruit and the inside of the bowl and bounced off each other. Feeling inspired I decided to do an oil based on it. What seemed to work for me was a very lively approach that captured the vibrant hot sunlight on the day, I was less concerned about the subject matter in terms of accuracy and detail. I very rarely do still life paintings but enjoyed doing this one so I might do more in the future.
