Description
In this painting I’ve tried to capture the beautiful lines on this tall ship. I enjoy reading books about the trade between South America and Europe in the 18th century and imagining what the vessels were like along with the people who sailed these majestical ships. The ship depicted is a timber-built Clipper, representative of that era. The phrase “mare’s tails and mackerel scales make lofty ships lower their sails” comes to mind.
This original watercolour painting was created on Fabriano Acquarello Grana Fina Cold Press 25% Cotton paper using various watercolours and white gouache.
