Description

This is a slightly abstract/expressionist painting based on a woodland scene with trees by a shallow pond after heavy rain. It’s late evening in the forest and ground is soaking but the rain has completely stopped and we’re just seeing the last sunlight of the day through the trees reflected on the wet ground.
I did this painting entirely with a palette knife, the hard to control and random marks made by a palette knife make a more expressive painting. It is especially hard to control for detail but that makes it a lot looser and more atmospheric than the same scene painted with  brush, imho.
