The painting was made at Christmas time. Since childhood, I associate clementines with New Year and Christmas. The vibrant joyful colour of this fruit brings into any room a welcoming and energetic atmosphere. Also, in Chinese culture clementines are a symbol of wealth and prosperity. I was very excited to work on this still life.
