I work as a professional 3D design consultant.I have been painting watercolours for more than 30 years using the time to relax during busy period of work. When the first lock-down period started I decided to spend more time in the garden drawing and painting. I only draw and paint plants as I get my inspiration from the plant forms and shapes. I start off with a sheet of 300gm cold pressed watercolour paper and sketch onto it using a 0.3mm propelling pencil creating all the details, forms and shapes before adding Daler Rowney watercolour paints. Some plants lend themselves to a more detailed structured painting while others move into a more abstract form, this can be seen in some of my latest poppy painting with the translucent quality of the petals and the way they overlap creating different colour shades. All my paintings are signed and dated with the day the painting was completed.
