S.A. Morgan sculpture

Sallyanne Morgan is a sculpture artist. I work with concrete and ferrous cement, I am self-taught in this method, having graduated from Colaiste, Conghaile ‘art in Sculpture’ 1997.

The work is primarily figurative and conceptual, using either direct cement method with wire armature and ferrous materials or casting from clay.

Engraved symbols, text; tattoos, and pigmented cement are incorporated.

The figures animate persona and attitude; the intricate balance between outward behavior and the internal narratives we all share. I attempt to make a visual representation of the inner psyche with all its complexities.

I have worked as a government-sponsored “Artist in the community” in Ireland, taught ceramics to young adults in Phnom Penh, and facilitated a cement workshop in KCAC, Kathmandu.

Having lived in countries as diverse as Greece: Cambodia and Malta, I returned to Ireland after 17 years in July 2019 to start my next chapter.
