Description
This is a surrealist painting depicting Eve in the garden of Eden shortly after she bit into the apple from the tree of knowledge. God’s anger is symbolised by the eclipse with lightening and high winds. Eve’s body language conveys both turmoil and defiance. The wrath of God scares her but she was also expecting it. Her decision was reckless but not entirely stupid.
I think humans are resistant to change, especially when it comes too rapidly but if we feel things are too stable for too long we start to feel like life is stagnant and we can be instinctively prone to shake things up and create chaos.
There is little growth or development without some pain or frustration and in this painting I am exploring the idea that will even create pain, consciously or unconsciously, to further our understanding.
