Noreen Gallagher Art

Working primarily with acrylic paint and alcohol inks, I explore the dynamic interplay of
spontaneity and structure through mixed media and collage. My practice is rooted in the tactile
nature of creation, where each application is as much an act of discovery as it is a deliberate
choice. Using a palette knife, sticks and other tools, I layer vibrant colours and transparent inks,
carving, scraping, and blending surfaces to reveal hidden textures and narratives.
This process—of building, deconstructing, and reassembling—mirrors the complex layers of
memory and emotion. The unpredictable flow of the ink’s contrasts with the deliberate strokes
of the palette knife, symbolizing the tension between chance and intention. My work invites
viewers to engage with these contrasts and become energized with the colour and texture.
I strive to create a visual dialogue that reflects both the chaos and beauty of the natural world
and our internal landscapes. Each piece is an open-ended conversation between materials,
technique, and emotion—a reminder that art, much like life, is continually evolving
