Description
This painting was the first serious painting I did after returning home to Ireland from the UK. It is a small painting that was part of a series I painted for the exhibition held at The Pigyard Gallery in Wexford as part of Fleadh Cheoil an hÉireann 2024.
This painting was done in a bright Fauvist style to compensate for my severe colourblindness.
I wanted to capture this landmark, to celebrate the maritime and medieval heritage of Wexford County.
To paint it, I used a palette knife to apply the paint and used a heavy impasto to give a sense of sculpture and solidity to the painting.
