Description
This is a painting of a busy Irish street on a hot and sunny summers day in late August, coming into early evening at around half five.
I tried to capture the scene more as a simplified memory of the scene rather than a detailed depiction of it. I was aiming for a slightly abstract painting.
It was painted with a palette knife and the marks were softened with a feather brush to capture a hazy, squint against the sun feel.
The specific location that inspired the painting is near the luas stop on Townsend Street looking west where it cuts across O’ Connell Street. However it’s more the atmosphere of the time of
day that’s the real subject matter.
