An unusual moment is depicted in this painting, when there isn’t a soul on the shores below Ballybunion Castle. Unlike the view in the height of summer when there’s hardly a stretch of sand for beach-goers to soak up the sun. County Clare’s southern coastline is visible in the background across the Shannon Estuary.
