Description

This is an oil painting of Shaw Street in Dublin. I normally see it as i drive past so I decided to paint it that way. Doing so helped me simplify the painting a bit, making it, in my opinion a bit more expressive. The street is a link between Pearse Street on the south and Townsend street on the north end. Here we are seeing it from Pearse street.
Despite being fairly utilitarian with some empty lots, an old warehouse, and a bus terminus, it still has a interesting, distinctive feel to it. Especially with the rail bridge stretching across it. It looks a bit like a movie set at night.
I have chosen to depict as it looks on a hot summers afternoon when it’s pleasant  and peaceful. Sort on an outdoor liminal space.
