Description
There’s something so comforting about sunflowers, they carry the heat of summer, the weight of long days, and the kind of joy that’s impossible to find in winter. I painted these from life, drawn to their bold faces and the way they refused to be too polished or perfect. They sat not in a delicate vase, but in a simple, chunky jar, just as they should. What I love most is how loose and expressive the brushstrokes became, almost like the flowers themselves demanded that freedom. The dark purple background holds them like a velvet curtain, giving space for the yellows and oranges to sing.
This painting isn’t about precision; it’s about presence. The smudges, the white streaks, the dark stains, they’re part of what makes it feel alive.
