Description
We regularly take breaks in the West of Ireland, and Clifden has become a favourite. This view is from the beach road around the back of the town. I wanted to push this painting towards an even stronger impressionist style. It’s a reasonably small canvas, so keeping the strokes loose while maintaining a good representation was difficult. Light in any landscape is a vital element to me. I’ve tried to evoke that brightness I encountered in the scene and the shimmering reflection it created on the water.
