Description

This is the third painting I’ve completed of Piazza del Popolo in Rome. It’s quite a large Piazza, and this view is based on a photograph I took while seated at a café on the edge of the Piazza. When creating the painting I wanted to convey the feeling of scale and the size of the Piazza. Also key was to try and capture the tranquil atmosphere of the late afternoon as tourists enjoyed spending time at one of Rome’s favourite Piazzas.
